Indie Reviews

At the beginning of each year, I sit down like many people and write goals and resolutions for the year ahead. One of those resolutions for 2012 was to support other struggling authors by investing my reading dollars not into the big business of publishing or even e-publishing, but directly into the individual authors. As a result, I have made and kept to the promise to purchase ONLY indie or self-published works this year.

And guess what? I have discovered a multitude of talented romance authors from all genres. Some of them are previously published authors, who have re-released old print works in electronic format. Others continue to write for established publishers and e-publishers, but also write their hard to place ‘heart’ stories and release those that do not meet the prescribed cookie cutter guidelines of many publishers as self-published e-books. Others like myself have decided to be complete rebels, escewing the publishing industry and agents completely.

This blog will promote those foreward thinking authors with weekly reviews of the best that indie/self publishing has to offer. Each Thursday, I will release another book review…in time for you to purchase your weekend read. These books will cross all romance genres…everything from sweet historicals to hot alien sex is game with me, even a touch of alternative lifestyle and erotica.

The review will include:

  • A brief synopsis of the story – so you see if it interests you.
  • A critical evaluation of literary elements such as storyline, character development and pacing – You know all those things that made a good book report in high school, but not as dry.
  • And even technical elements – such as the cover and formatting issues.
  • I will also tell you where you can get the book…and price.

I will begin my first review next Thursday, March 8th with a look at one of my new favorite authors Evangeline Anderson and her super hot alien series Brides of the Kindred. I can see why this Southern belle choose indie for these stories which push the limit of erotic romance including polyamory and BDSM. Join me for this too HOT to handle launch.

And if you are an indie publisher or have read a wonderful self-published work, please let me know as I am always looking for my next book to review. Email me.
